Remember that there will be two block of the month drawings, one for the Maine BOM that was taught at the January workshop, the other a state block of your choice. The drawings are for gift certificates; you get to keep your beautiful blocks! Show and Tell items are welcome, so let’s see what you have been making! Refreshments are by Bernice and Joanna.

The Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 18, is at the Peoples United Methodist Church in Greenville Junction, Maine, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Paula will teach the Merry-Go-Round quilt technique as described in McCall’s Quilter’s How-To Workshop, Autumn 2011 issue. This quilt is pieced with NO set-in seams! It resembles the Grandmother’s Flower Garden pattern which consists of hexagons, traditionally pieced by setting in each seam. You will be cutting wedges from strip sets consisting of two 2-1/2” strips, one dark, one light. Fabric requirements will be available at the Feb. Business Meeting.

Nineteen members attended. Edie M. introduced her guest, quilter Geneva B. of Shirley. Delicious refreshments were provided by Lurline and Jolene. Show and Tell included some information about another way to stitch in the ditch using an elongated serpentine stitch. Not all machines have this feature. Joanna used this technique on a crib quilt.

The workshop is on Saturday, January 21, at the Methodist Church in Greenville Junction from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. It features the paper pieced State of Maine block and can be made with two fat quarters. Donna S. will teach us how to make this block. She also reminded us about the packet for paper piecing that can be purchased at Crazy Moose Fabrics in Greenville. As always, you may work on your own projects, or just visit and enjoy the inspiration! Bag lunches and your sewing machines and paper-piecing supplies and a couple of fat quarters are all you need!
